Dimitris Giannakopoulos opened one of the first pharmacies in Athens. -
1960
Paul Giannakopoulos founded PHARMAGIAN, a company which expanded rapidly in Greece and also abroad as a representative of major international pharmaceutical companies. -
1971
PHARMAGIAN became a societé anonyme and was renamed VIANEX. The company developed immediately and gained recognition when international pharmaceutical companies such as Merck & Co (USA), Takeda Chemical Industries (Japan), Boots (UK), Sigma Tau Industries (Italy) etc. entrusted VIANEX to represent their products in the Greek market. -
1977
The company began its manufacturing activities with the establishment of Plant A. -
1983
The company signed an agreement with the Merck & Co group. -
1983
The Winthrop-Sterling factory was modernised and became VIANEX’s Plant B in Pallini. -
1985
The Upjohn company's factory production line was expanded and it became VIANEX’s Plant C. -
1995
The subsidiary company VIAN SA was founded to handle existing non-prescription pharmaceuticals and OTC products. -
1997
VIANEX bought the Varibobi premises of the Hoechst company to house its Headquarters and the Distribution Center for its finished products. -
1999
The antibiotics production unit of the Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Technology in Patras Industrial Zone was fully upgraded to meet the company’s strict standards for production and became VIANEX’s Plant D. -
2011
VIANEX was approved as a supplier by the World Health Organization. -
2013
VIANEX signed an agreement with Lilly to to produce 10,000,000 units of vancomycin annually and to export 100% of this production to China. -
2019Acquisition of PHARMANEL S.A.
