This plant was purchased by VIANEX from the Upjohn company in 1985 and began operating with a 9 sq.m. lyophilizer. Over time, with ongoing renovations and expansions, the factory now has 10 lyophilisers in a total area of 217 sq.m. and is considered to be one of the largest modern injectable lyophilized production units in Europe. This has led many international pharmaceutical groups to choose VIANEX and Plant C for exclusive preparation of their products for international export.
The plant includes separate production lines for sterile injectable products (lyophilized, solutions, suspensions), a special unit for the production of cytotoxic gels, and also houses a special R & D laboratory with two pilot lyophilizers in which research programs on lyophilization issues are developed as part of research partnerships with academic and research institutions.
Plant C is also a leading supplier of lyophilized products to Greek hospitals, and many of these products fall into category of “lifesavers”. The plant follows GMP procedures which are regularly inspected by EOF and by partner companies, but also by the National Medicines Agencies of foreign countries (Japan, Turkey, etc.).
It includes:
- A fully equipped quality control unit (chemical - biological) with state of the art facilities for sterile product control with high level scientific personnel and the latest technology.
- Packaging units with 6 independent packaging lines.
- Three warehouses with capacity for 2,000 pallets.
- Facilities supporting the entire production process (distilled and deionized water, clean steam, liquid nitrogen, compressed air, etc.).
- Five independent power generators.
- Particle control system (continuous monitoring).
